LET ARROW BE YOUR VALENTINE

ARROW FEBRUARY: AN OUT OF THIS WORLD SCI-FI TRIP, MICHAEL HANEKE MASTERWORKS, AND VINEGAR SYNDROME GOODNESS!

Key highlights this FEBRUARY on the essential, alternative streaming service ARROW include the exclusive premiere of the brilliant and bizarre sci-fi comedy LAGUNA AVE., Gaspar Noe’s envelope-pushing 21st-century romance LOVE, beautifully restored obscurities and B-movie gems from the wild world of VINEGAR SYNDROME, a season of films by Michael Haneke, the making of DUNE, Yorgos Lanthimos and more…

In February, ARROW premieres LAGUNA AVE., a truly offbeat slice of surrealistic mayhem that Film Threat says “comes on like a 90s-era slacker comedy and goes out on a note of apocalyptic dread”. The film features a terrific lead performance from Russell Steinberg (Days Out of Days, Adventureland) as a beleaguered former musician who stumbles upon something very strange indeed when a mysterious tenant moves into his Los Angeles apartment building. Delirious, demented, and packed with weird and wild characters, and a pulsing, pounding soundtrack, this “gonzo schlockfest” (Kim Newman) is US indie cinema at its most entertaining and original.

A nutty blend of Kevin Smith’s Clerks, Darren Aronofsky’s Pi, Swingers and Tetsuo: The Iron Man, LAGUNA AVE. is an address you really need to visit as soon as possible. The film will be screened with exclusive extras including introductions from director David Buchanan and star Russell Steinberg and a FrightFest 2021 conversation with David Buchanan hosted by Greg Day, filmed at FrightFest London.

Also in February, FUNNY GAMES: THE MICHAEL HANEKE COLLECTION, featuring both the groundbreaking original and the US version of FUNNY GAMES, the achingly poignant AMOUR, Palme d’Or winner HIDDEN, monochrome masterpiece THE WHITE RIBBON, as well as the fascinating 2013 documentary about this formidable and uncompromising auteur, MICHAEL H. PROFESSION: DIRECTOR.

There is more unmissable arthouse in February, with Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER, the director’s stunning international breakout feature starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan (THE ETERNALS); and  LOVE, from the always-controversial and Gaspar Noe, this time turning his provocative gaze onto a passionate relationship in Paris that takes an unexpected turn.

Another must-watch in February is THE SLEEPER MUST AWAKEN: MAKING DUNE, a feature-length documentary looking at David Lynch’s ambitious attempt to put Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic onto the big screen in 1984.

February also includes GARETH EVANS SELECTS, with the acclaimed director of action classic THE RAID and non-stop bone-crunching TV hit GANGS OF LONDON selecting 30 of his favourite films on ARROW, including some spectacular classics including DARK WATER, VERSUS, and AUDITION.

ALSO SHOWING: Greg Araki’s apocalyptic mindblower KABOOM; pure video nastiness in the cult shocker DON’T GO IN THE HOUSE; Isaballe Huppert in Hal Hartley’s hypnotic AMATEUR;  the hair-raising horror-comedy sequel ANOTHER WOLFCOP;  and Jack Palance chewing up the screen in DAN CURTIS’ DRACULA; and more…
