Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth arrives in cinemas nationwide from October 30; presentations include special 3D and 35mm screenings in some locations. A 20th anniversary 4K UHD Collector’s Edition will follow in 2027.

Set in Spain in 1944, in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth follows young Ofelia (Ivana Baquero), who moves with her frail, pregnant mother (Ariadna Gil) to a remote military outpost to live with her sadistic stepfather, Captain Vidal (Sergi López), a ruthless fascist officer.

Ofelia befriends the housekeeper Mercedes (Maribel Verdú), who, unbeknownst to Vidal, secretly aids the resistance. Fascinated by the strange landscape, Ofelia discovers an ancient labyrinth where she meets a faun (Doug Jones), who tells her she is the lost princess of an underground kingdom and must complete a series of tasks to prove her identity and return home. As she undertakes three dangerous tasks, Ofelia’s fantastical world becomes increasingly intertwined with the brutal reality surrounding her.

Blending dark fantasy and horror with historical drama, Pan’s Labyrinth is one of the most celebrated films of the 21st century. The film won more than 100 awards worldwide, including three Oscars for Cinematography, Art Direction, and Makeup, and two BAFTAs for Film Not in the English Language and Costume Design. Guillermo Navarro’s extraordinary cinematography adds depth and atmosphere to Guillermo del Toro’s darkly imaginative world, perfectly complementing the work of one of cinema’s most visionary directors.

As Pan’s Labyrinth celebrates its 20th anniversary, Studiocanal invites you to experience the masterpiece as it was meant to be seen: on the big screen in 3D, 35mm and 4K.

For Pan’s Labyrinth’s 20th Anniversary, Guillermo del Toro has supervised the first true 4K presentation, taken directly from the original 35mm elements, with a fully restored picture and an all-new Dolby Atmos sound mix. The 3D conversion, also supervised by del Toro, comes with a fully restored picture and an all-new Dolby Atmos sound mix.

An international team of more than 600 artists at SDFX Studios performed the 3D picture conversion. Company 3 executed the colour grade, and Deluxe executed subtitling and theatrical packaging. Scott Gershin supervised the audio restoration, and James Jean created new artwork for the release.
