The Innocent will be released in both UK and Irish cinemas on August 25th.
MetFilm Distribution has announced the UK and Irish theatrical release date for The Innocent (L’Innocent) as August 25th. Directed, written by and starring Louis Garrel (The Dreamers, Little Women, At Eternity’s Gate), this charming heist-drama had its world premiere at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film, Garrel’s fourth directorial feature, received two awards at the 48th César Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Noémie Merlant and Best Original Screenplay.
Abel (Louis Garrel), a museum educator and widower, is at his wits’ end when his mother, Sylvie, marries Michel, a convict she met while teaching drama at the local prison. Caught up with his suspicions about his new stepfather, he remains blissfully unaware of his developing feelings for Clémence, a vivacious Noémie Merlant (Portrait of A Lady on Fire, Tár).
Fizzing with crackling chemistry and banter à la française, The Innocent (L’Innocent) is part family drama, part heist thriller. But, above all, it is engaging, affectionate and romantic.
Written and Directed by: Louis Garrel
