The London Indian Film Festival returns for its 17th year this July with a rich array of cutting-edge new cinema premieres from India and across South Asia, many cherry-picked from the finest film festivals worldwide, plus restorations of magnificent classics of Indian cinema.
The festival is also showcasing the best of emerging British Asian film talent, celebrating the cast of the very British Goodness Gracious Me, and exploring new frontiers in cinema and technology.

Programme highlights include:
- In Conversation with Aamir Khan.
- Laagan – showing at BFI IMAX, the Academy Award-nominated Lagaan is one of Hindi cinema’s greatest underdog tales.
- 52 Blue – a young man’s passion and desire to meet his idol Lionel Messi leads him on a journey to the football World Cup in Qatar in this rousing tale of self-discovery and love.
- The festival’s pioneering LGBTQIA+ film showcase, Too Desi Too Queer, is co-curated by Manchester’s Rainbow Noir and returns with a fresh selection of groundbreaking and thought-provoking queer films. From heartwarming love stories to inspiring documentaries, these eye-opening shorts celebrate and amplify the voices of South Asian queer individuals. The ever-popular programme screens in Bradford, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, and Greater London.
- Goodness Gracious Me Reunion – a unique chance to share the on-stage reunion of the legends of British comedy, the cast of Goodness Gracious Me.
- The festival’s India’s AI & Film Future event looks to the future with Europe’s first showcase of a new generation of Indian films that adopt AI and other technologies as part of their creative process, at BFI Southbank.
