BAFTA today unveiled this year’s longlists for the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026. Round Two of voting kicks off today and will determine the nominations, to be unveiled via a global livestream on Tuesday, 27 January at 12:00 GMT from BAFTA’s HQ at 195 Piccadilly in London. Round Three of voting will determine the winners.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London and broadcast as-live on BBC One and iPlayer and internationally, as part of an unmissable celebration of British and global film hosted by multi-award-winning actor, writer, producer and TV host, Alan Cumming.

The longlists for all 25 categories, including Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Casting, Documentary, Film Not in the English Language, the four performance categories, the Children’s & Family Film category, and more, are available to view now on the BAFTA website. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leads with 16 spots on the list, with Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners close behind, with 14. Other notable mentions include Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and I Swear and Pillion.

BAFTA Film Committee Chair, Emily Stillman, said, “Today’s 82 longlisted films reflect a year of outstanding filmmaking told through bold, complex and original storytelling and exceptional craftsmanship. The presence of the British film industry across this global list is felt strongly – from our world-class talent, locations and infrastructure to scripts rooted in a distinctly British perspective. In a stand-out year for film, our 8,300 BAFTA voting members face a formidable task ahead. We are delighted that BAFTA Film Awards longlists have become such an important part of awards season, giving the spotlight to a vast range of films, and we hope the public will enjoy watching and discussing them as much as we have.”

The nominations for the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026 will be announced on Tuesday, 27 January at 12:00 (GMT), from BAFTA’s HQ at 195 Piccadilly, London and streamed live on BAFTA YouTube.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will once again be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in central London, and broadcast on Sunday 22 February on BBC One and iPlayer, as well as a host of further international broadcasters to be announced. Viewers will also be able to find all the essential action from the red carpet, ceremony, and beyond across BAFTA’s social channels.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards voting takes place over three rounds: Longlisting, Nominations and Winners, by BAFTA’s 8,300 global voting membership and film industry practitioners.

This is the fifth year a Longlisting round has been in place to showcase more films at an earlier stage in the Awards process. To ensure a level playing field and fair consideration for all titles, regardless of marketing budget, all film voting members are allocated a broad range of 15 selected films to view before voting in Round One.

BAFTA encourages voters to watch as many films as possible at the cinema, and in addition makes all qualifying films available to voting members on BAFTA View, BAFTA’s online viewing platform.

Before voting in their relevant categories in Round Two, voters must confirm that they have seen the longlisted films.

Categories in Rounds One and Two are voted for by the corresponding Chapters or Juries made up of BAFTA members—the full BAFTA voting membership votes on Round Three.

The EE Rising Star Award is the only award voted for by the public. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the EE Rising Star Award. EE will unveil the nominees on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, and the winner will be announced at the ceremony.
