Nigel Harman, Cassius Hackforth, Dylan Mulvaney, Amie Atkinson and Melanie La Barrie rocked the Savoy Theatre last night for the world premiere of Drew Gasparini’s We Aren’t Kids Anymore.
Focusing on the universal journey we all take through life, from our early years, to the moment we fly the nest and attempt to find our direction on life’s long and winding road, We Aren’t Kids Anymore is full of the emotional depth and toe-tapping brilliance you would expect from Gasparini’s diverse musical style. With guest performances from Jenna Lee James, Jeevan Braich, and Tony Bayliss, the art-deco splendour of the Savoy Theatre was the perfect home for a world premiere that also saw Gasparini’s competition winners Katie Leach and Sally Forster share the stage for their breathtaking West End debut.
Director Jake Smith said, “The show encourages you to dream and invites you to be creative. It has been so exciting to manifest this version of We Aren’t Kids Anymore with the support of a phenomenal cast and creative team.”
Drew Gasparini added, “I see a bright future for this musical. I see a way for this musical to help connect us during the age of isolation. I see a collective of people understanding that there is no handbook, there is no manual, life doesn’t come with a set of rules. No matter what age we are, we are all just trying to understand what it means to “grow up.”
