National Theatre Live has announced the world premiere stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s comedy masterpiece Dr. Strangelove will be released in cinemas next year.
This explosively funny satire about a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear attack will hit the silver screen worldwide on March 27 2025. A world-renowned creative team, including Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci, Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley and Seven-time BAFTA Award-winner Steve Coogan, leads this stage adaptation of Kubrick’s classic movie.
Coogan plays Dr Strangelove, President Merkin Muffley, Group Captain Lionel Mandrake and Major TJ Kong. Giles Terera plays General Buck Turgisdon, with John Hopkins as General Jack D. Ripper, Oliver Alvin-Wilson as Jefferson, Penny Ashmore as Vera Lynn, Ben Deery as General Staines, Richard Dempsey as Frank, Mabli Gwynne as Swing, Mark Hadfield as Faceman and Tony Jayawardena as Russian Ambassador Bakov. The ensemble includes Tom Kelsey, Daniel Norford, Dharmesh Patel as Lincoln, Adam Sina, Alex Stoll and Ben Turner as Colonel Bat Guano.
Dr. Strangelove is produced by Patrick Myles and David Luff, Tulchin Bartner Productions, Playful Productions, Barbara Broccoli, Jean Doumanian, Alexander “Sandy” Marshall, Playing Field, Mark Puddle, Trafalgar Theatre Productions and in association with Wild Yak. Jonathan Cameron is the Executive Producer for the Stanley Kubrick Estate.
