Happy as Lazzaro

Quick Read Review

Expertly crafted film making with deep humanity and intelligence. Lazzaro acts as a mirror, reflecting back to the audience the society we live in with care, humour and simplicity. It’s stunning cinematography and 16mm film style creates both warmth and starkness in equal measure. It’s social commentary never seeks to preach, with its core messages left completely in the hands of the viewer. For some this film may be a struggle to settle into, but this is beautiful Italian filmmaking. Offering a story full of heart and magic alongside a cutting social commentary.

In selected cinemas from 5th April
