BAFTA Winners 2019

The Favourite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dark and delicious. This is a director and cast working in unison to create cinema that will become a classic of modern film.

Spider-Man – Into the Spiderverse

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fresh, funny and emotional. Spiderverse is pure comic book beauty on screen, and a must for everyone who loves comics and loves clever film and smart film making

Roma ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a director at the peak of their profession building a sublime cinematic work of art around memory, family, love and loss. Roma is an utterly beautiful.

Blackkklansman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Spike Lee delivers an outstanding film with humour, complexity and amazing performances, while reminding us all that the fight for equality is far from won. Engaging, thoughtful and deeply important film making.

Green Book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

With outstanding performances and direction, Green Book takes you on a beautiful journey into the heart and soul of two men from different cultural backgrounds. Green Book asks us to explore our prejudices, beliefs and cultural norms, providing us with a story of hope over despair, and a roadmap for a better more understanding world.

Bohemian Rhapsody ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This film will rock you! Joyous, emotional and powerful Rami Malek gives a performance full of soul and real reverence to Freddie backed by a superb ensemble cast. Bohemian Rhapsody shows love and affection, while never seeking to dismiss the trappings of fame or the destructive nature of money and loneliness, uneven at times and wholly accurate, BR is still a rollercoaster of emotion, music and humanity.

Vice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Powerful, challenging and utterly compelling. Vice is one of the most intelligent and accessible pieces of political film making to grace our screens in many years. Deeply uncomfortable at times, yet beautifully directed and performed.

Beast ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A formidable debut feature, Beast is a pure psychological thriller with performances that grab you, shake you and leave you unnerved.

Black Panther ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Black Panther is without a doubt one of most culturally important films of its genre in a generation. Black Panther inspires and challenges throughout, while also entertaining and providing us with characters we can relate to and themes that offer aspiration and hope. Marvel once more shows other studios how to make comic book characters live and breathe in a modern world.

These may have not gone home with the goods but they are winners in my eyes

The Wife ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Beautiful character drama expertly directed allowing Close, Price and Fox to perform to perfection. The wife explores repression, love and sexism with ease and tenderness, with Close giving an Oscar worthy understated but powerful performance, where a mere look tells the story of her inner voice screaming with frustration. Equally, Price is magnificent, brimming with make bravado while hiding deep seated insecurities. The Wife is character film making at its best and most engaging.

Capernaum ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Film is at its most powerful when it holds a mirror to the world we live, telling stories that make us reflect, laugh, cry and seek to build a better world Capharnaum does this every minute of its running time. A masterclass in film making
